Noah Emmerich is an American actor and director, best known for playing FBI Agent Stan Beeman on FX’s ‘The Americans’ for which he earned a Critics' Choice Television Award.

 He was born to André Emmerich, a gallery owner, and Constance, a concert pianist. He has two elder brothers, Adam Emmerich, who is a partner at the firm Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, and Toby Emmerich, who serves as the CEO at New Line Cinema.


Noah Emmerich studied at Dalton School and later majored in history at Yale University.

From 1998 to 2003, he was married to Melissa Fitzgerald, an actress. Following his divorce, he married producer cum actress Mary Regency Boies.

Noah Emmerich began his career with guest appearances in the television dramas ‘NYPD Blue’ and ‘Melrose Place’.

In 1996, he had his first starring role in the romantic comedy-drama movie ‘Beautiful Girls’. Two years later, he was cast in the satirical sci-fi flick ‘The Truman Show’ which stars Jim Carrey in the lead role.

Soon after this, Emmerich played Stan Blocker in ‘Life’, a film about two friends of an elderly inmate who are wrongly convicted and given a life sentence in prison.

He started the new millennium with the sci-fi thriller movie ‘Frequency.’

In 2001, the actor starred as Rick Johnson in the drama film ‘Julie Johnson’ which focuses on a housewife who begins a relationship with her wayward friend after separating from her husband.

Following an appearance in the romantic drama ‘Beyond Borders,’ Emmerich did the films ‘Miracle’ and ‘Cellular’, both of which were released in 2004.

Two years later, he played the role of Larry Hedges in ‘Little Children’. The flick was a hit and earned three Academy Award nominations. He then featured in Gavin O'Connor’s crime drama ‘Pride and Glory’ alongside Edward Norton, Jon Voight and Colin Farrell.

During 2009 and 2010, Emmerich appeared in the series ‘White Collar’. This was followed by his role in the sitcom ‘Backwash’.

In 2011, he played Colonel Nelec in the sci-fi monster flick ‘Super 8’. Two years later, he joined the cast of the spy thriller series ‘The Americans’ and also directed three episodes of the show later. After this, Emmerich served as the director on Showtime’s series ‘Billions’ in 2017-18.

In 2022, he was cast in Suspicion, an English-language thriller television series based on the Israeli thriller TV series False Flag.
